The Borough of Sea Bright would like to remind residents that cases of avian influenza (bird flu) have been reported in various regions throughout the state. While the risk to the general public remains low, it is important to take basic precautions to protect yourself, your family, and local wildlife.

What You Should Know:Avian influenza primarily affects wild birds and domestic poultry.Human cases are rare and typically associated with direct contact with infected birds. There is currently no evidence of sustained person-to-person spread.

Safety Guidelines:Avoid contact with sick or dead birds.Do not touch birds or wildlife without proper protective equipment.Keep pets away from deceased or visibly ill birds.Wash hands thoroughly after outdoor activities where birds are present.

If you encounter a sick or deceased bird on public property, please complete the NJDEP reporting form by visiting https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/749040214c974bb88c89c58483a51ab8.
